Unmarried Partner Visa
An unmarried partner visa allows a non-settled partner to be able to enter or apply for further leave to remain on the basis of your relationship with your British or UK settled partner provided that you can prove you have been in a relationship similar to marriage or civil partnership for a period of at least two years. This may suit those who have no plans to marry or are at the stage in their lives where they are not ready to marry yet.
The visa is initially granted for a period of 30 months and can be extended for a further 30 months provided that the relevant criteria continue to be met. After completing a period of 5 years, you may be eligible to apply for indefinite leave to remain which is also known as settlement.
We appreciate the stress that separation from a loved one could have on couples who wish to be able to live together in the UK and it is therefore important to ensure that your unmarried partner visa application is completed correctly and that you include all the necessary documents to strengthen the chances of your success. We have the experience and knowledge to assist you with your unmarried partner visa application whether it is for entry clearance to the UK or if it is to extend or switch into an unmarried visa.
