A UK expansion worker visa allows senior managers and specialist employees to be assigned to the UK to expand the overseas business in the UK by permitting them to set up a branch of an overseas business which has not yet started trading in the UK. This is a temporary visa route and the maximum permitted time a person can reside in the UK under this category is 2 years.

Who can apply for a UK Expansion Worker Visa?

To apply for a UK expansion worker visa, you generally must meet the following requirements:

  • Be over the age of 18.
  • Have a valid Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) from your employer.
  • Work in an eligible role that appears on the Home Office occupation code list.
  • Be paid at least £45,800.00 or the “going rate” for your job – whichever is higher.
  • Worked with your overseas employer outside the UK for at least 12 months unless you will be paid over £73,900.00, you are a Japanese national doing work for a Japanese company that is expanding to the UK or you are an Australian national or permanent residence of Australia doing work for a Australian company that is expanding to the UK.
